Coolcations: Chilling Out in the World’s Best “Cool Summer” Spots

Can you beat the heat of summer by enjoying a coolcatoin? Milder temperatures await you, but where can you go?

Thankfully, there are some areas of the world that are cooler during the summer months and some that are warmer than during winter, but still much cooler than the scorching temperatures you’re experiencing right now. Taking coolcations is becoming one of the best travel trends, making it easy to beat the summer heat by going somewhere that has much milder temperatures and often much less humidity.

Ireland awaits you

Head to Ireland and enjoy the amazing sprawling greenery that is the signature of this island nation. Take a wonderful tour from Dublin to Belfast and enjoy the beauty of the Cliffs of Moher, which give you a fantastic look at sheer rock faces that end in the ocean. The bustling streets of Belfast give you plenty to do, and the amazing architecture of Dublin will take your breath away. A visit to the Emerald Isle must include a stay at an 18th-century castle, where you’ll be pampered and enjoy the historic building and decorations.

Iceland, cool is in the name

Although its common knowledge that Iceland is misnamed and Greenland is actually covered in ice, Iceland is still a great place to go for a coolcation. You can enjoy some amazing waterfalls, black-sand beaches, and glacial lagoons that are beautiful blue. This amazing country is one of the best to visit during summer, and you won’t have to worry about bugs. Check out the stunning ice tunnels and experience the cool temperatures that make this island nation a great place to go during the summer.

Scandinavia could be the coolest place for you

The five Nordic nations that are situated extremely far north make for great places to go and visit during the hot summer months. Escape the heat of the United States and head to Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, and Iceland. Visiting each of these countries during your vacation can be one of the most amazing cultural experiences of your life. When visiting these areas, you’ve got to see the Northern Lights, which light up the sky in a fantastic natural display.

Go south to the Galapagos and Ecuador

When it’s the heat of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s the middle of winter in the Southern Hemisphere. This means the summer months are a great time to visit South America if you want to enjoy cooler temperatures and get near the ocean. During July and August, the Galapagos cool down to temps that don’t reach beyond the high 70s. The colder water means you’ll need to wear a wetsuit when snorkeling, but this can be a great activity while in this area.

Check out Peru and Machu Picchu

If you want to enjoy mountain landscapes and some amazing hiking adventures in cooler weather, visit Peru and Machu Picchu where you’ll find some jaw-dropping mountains and some of the most incredible archeological discoveries. This area is also home to some wonderful food, charming small properties that you can rent during your coolcation, and people that are welcoming and warm. Immerse yourself in the culture and enjoy everything Peru has to offer.

Brazil is waiting to cool you off

The further south you travel in South America, the cooler the temperatures will be. Brazil is the largest nation on the continent and is home to the world’s largest tropical wetland, called the Pantanal. Take a tour through this area, and you might see jaguars and other wildlife roaming about. This is also the driest time of the year in the area, which means you won’t be bothered by bugs and the humidity that is normally associated with the wetland.

Argentina and Chile offer amazing escapes

Your coolcation destination could include Argentina and Chile. Chile is one of the narrowest countries on the map, but it spans the entire western coast of the South America, offering various temperature changes and landscapes. Between the two countries, you can enjoy the Atacama Desert, Easter Island, the Ibera Wetlands, Iguazu Falls, and Buenos Aires. There’s a lot to do and explore in the Patagonian area, giving you a wonderful and cooler vacation spot than you might find if you stay in the Northern Hemisphere.

Where do you think you want to go to enjoy your coolcation this year? Cooling off while the United States is sweltering hot makes a lot of sense, giving you some cool places to go during the summer months.
